See my 10/20/06 posting - Boost Immunity by Recolonizing Your Bowel with Friendly Intestinal Bacteria. Kefir is a milk culture similar to yogurt. Kefir curd is much smaller than yogurt and the strains of beneficial micro-organisms present are different. Yogurt is not able to recolonize the bowel with friendly intestinal bacteria, but kefir will. Dr. Bob Marshall, on his Healthline show, suggested making your own kefir since most products are either pasteurized or ultra pasteurized. I've looked at a number of brands and finally found one that is not pasteurized. Lifeway Original and Low Fat (plain, strawberry, rasberry, strawberry-banana, peach, cherry, blueberry, vanilla, cappuccino, and pomegranate) Kefir contain these 10 live & active kefir cultures:

In the "Perricone Weight Loss Diet" book, Dr. Perricone talks about different "superfoods," which includes Lifeway Kefir. I found Lifeway Low Fat Kefir at a local supermarket and a health food store.
