Calcium Supplements, Drinking Milk, & Taking Antacids Will Not Reduce or Reverse Osteoporosis

David Sandoval, host of "The Health Discovery Show," talked about the increase of osteoporosis in North America.

Things to increase:
  • Green vegetables - they create an alkaline environment to neutralize acids & are anabolic. It is necessary to create an anabolic environment before the body can utilize minerals to rebuild bones.
  • Citrus juices - because they change from acid to alkaline, they provide excellent bioavailable calcium.
  • Exercise - it creates "muscle resistance" leading to stronger bone mass.
Things to reduce:
  • Meat - creates damaging acids like uric acid. Your body will rapidly neutralize this acid by binding it with calcium "leached" from your bones. Your body trades off bone loss to avoid a worse disease!
  • Carbonated beverages - reduce oxygen & "leeches" calcium. One recent study listed teenagers as being particularly at risk for brittle & broken bones when they consume carbonated beverages!
  • Sugar (refined) - also causes acid build up.
