John Abramson, M.D., the author of "Overdosed America," was a guest on the Debra Ray Show. You can reduce your risk of stroke by changing your lifestyle.
  • Exercise reduces risk of stroke by 83%
  • Quitting smoking reduces risk of stroke by 83%
  • Moderate drinking (fewer than 4 drinks a day) reduces strokes by 83%
  • Controlling high blood pressure reduces risk of stroke by 67%
Dr. Abramson is not happy with recent drug review articles making a big deal out of the fact that Lipitor reduces the risk of stroke by 17%. These review articles don't mention lifestyle changes. He also points out that most review articles are done by doctors with ties to drug companies.
