Study Finds How to Reduce Your Age-Related Macular Degeneration Risk
Debra Ray read from the Carotenoids & Age-Related Eye Disease Study. 1700 women, aged 50 to 79, participated in the study. The study took a look at how much lutein and zeaxanthin they got in their diet. The study concluded that the more lutein and zeaxanthin you're getting in your diet, the less the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration. You can also supplement with lutein and zeaxanthin. Yellow, orange, and green leafy fruits and vegetables contain lutein and zeaxanthin. Some examples are:
- Eggs
- Kale
- Spinach
- Turnips
- Greens
- Collard greens
- Romaine lettuce
- Broccoli
- Zuchinni
- Corn
- Garden peas
- Brussel sprouts
