Choose Your Supplement Company Wisely
Debra Ray talked about a study done by ConsumerLab.com. They tested a number of valerian sleep products. Only 4 of the 14 sleep products tested, had the amount of valeric acid shown to be clinically effective. Of the 10 products that failed testing, 2 were contaminated with cadmium. ConsumerLab.com is only testing what is in a particular bottle. They are not certifying the company's manufacturing process. GMP (Good Manufaturing Practies) and USPC (United States Pharmacopeial Convention) do certify the company. With herbs, you really have to know the company. When buying an herb product, you need to know it's not contaminated and that it contains the active ingredient in which the study was done. Some St. John's Wort products are not made from the part of the plant that the study was done on. Debra Ray said these companies are GMP certified and there are others.
